Jose Mourinho wants to sign at least four players during his first summer transfer window in charge of Manchester United and, judging by his research, has observed their performances carerfully in recent months.
Mourinho informed United two months ago there are four key areas he wants to strengthen: Right midfield, up front, central midfield and central defence. Daley Blind, bought as a midfielder, spent the season as a centre-back, Jesse Lingard and Juan Mata vied for the right midfield role, United's central midfielders under-performed and teenager Marcus Rashford filled the void up front.
Former Chelsea manager Mourinho is also intent on clinching the signings early, having sealed the key acquisitions of Nemanja Matic, Cesc Fabregas and Diego Costa before the 2014 World Cup. Chelsea went on to win the 2014-15 Premier League title.
