Chris Brown To Remain In Jail Until June After Assault Trial Delay

Chris Brown will apparently remain in prison until June after his latest bid for freedom was denied.

According to TMZ, the singer - who was jailed last month after being asked to leave rehab  - was flown to Washington D.C. to stand trial in his assault case.

However, the trial - which was due to start yesterday (April 23) - was postponed until June, meaning the star will star behind bars.
Reuters claims that Breezy's defence asked for more time to arrange his bodyguard, Christopher Hollosy's testimony, after he was found guilty of misdemeanor assault on Monday (April 21).

Chris' attorneys believe Hollosy is a key witness and therefore should appear at his trial, but has allegedly refused to speak under oath until his appeal is completed.

The judge agreed that Brown and Hollosy should have separate trials, where his bodyguard will act as a defence witness.

A source has since told The Washington Post that US Marshals will now escort the Turn Up The Music hitmaker back to Los Angeles, where a judge will decide whether he should remain behind bars until his trial starts in just over two months.

CBS adds that Breezy is expected to stay in custody until at least May 1, when he is due to attend an LA probation hearing.

If convicted of the assault charge, the 24-year old faces a maximum jail term of six months and $1,000 fine, but he could also be sent to prison for four more years in California as a result of violating the terms of his probation, which comes from his assault on ex-girlfriend Rihanna in 2009.
