More than three dozen victims of the floods that followed following Cyclone Idai have been buried in mass graves in the district of Sussungenga after their bodies were found in an advanced state of decomposition.

These citizens tried to take refuge in the treetops but because of hunger, low temperatures and a delay in their rescue, they ended up losing their strength falling in the water.

The official death toll from the cyclone in Mozambique is now 534.

New York county declares measles outbreak emergency

A county in New York state has declared a state of emergency following a severe outbreak of measles.

Rockland County, on the Hudson River north of New York City, has barred unvaccinated children from public spaces after 153 cases were confirmed.

Violating the order will be punishable by a fine of $500 (£378) and up to six months in prison.

The announcement follows other outbreaks of the disease in Washington, California, Texas, and Illinois.

Vaccination rates have dropped steadily in the US with many parents objecting for philosophical or religious reasons, or because they believe misleading information that vaccines cause autism in children.

Alleged $1.3bn Tax Assessment: Court To Rule On AGF, MTN’s Case In May

A Federal High Court sitting in Lagos has fixed May 7 for ruling on a preliminary objection filed by the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, against telecoms giant, MTN.

In September 2018, MTN had instituted a suit to challenge the legality of the AGF’s assessment of its import duties, withholding tax and value-added tax in the sums of N242bn and $1.3bn.

The AGF had, however, contended that MTN’s suit was instituted outside the time prescribed by law.

he man who stabbed tennis champion Petra Kvitova in her home in the Czech Republic has been sentenced to eight years in jail, local media report.

Radim Zondra, 33, went to her flat in December 2016 saying he needed to inspect the boiler.

He then grabbed Kvitova, 29, from behind and held a knife to her throat. She suffered severe wounds to her left hand in the struggle to free herself.

Grandfather, daughter arrested over grandson’s death

The Lagos state police command have arrested an elderly man and his daughter over the death of his 10-year-old grandson, Abdullah Adisa, in Ikorodu area of the state.

According to the police, the mother of the deceased and his father have been divorced following allegations of infidelity. The deceased boy and his mother moved in with her father in Ikorodu. The police said few weeks ago, the young boy fell ill and died in the process.

Suspected Cholera Cases Spikes In Yemen In 2019 – UN

Nearly 110,000 suspected cases of cholera have been reported in war-hit Yemen since the beginning of January, including 190 related deaths, the UN said on Monday.

The UN office for humanitarian affairs (OCHA) said children under the age of five make up nearly a third of 108,889 cases which were reported between January 1 and March 17.

OCHA said the spike, which comes two years after Yemen suffered its worst cholera outbreak, was concentrated in six governorates including in the Red Sea port of Hodeida and the Sanaa province home to the capital.

Early rains could be blamed for the recent increase in suspected cholera cases, it said.

Moscow (CNN)Special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 US election "doesn't reveal anything new" except the finding that President Donald Trump's campaign or associates did not conspire with Russia, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Monday.

"We didn't see the report itself, and almost nobody has, we don't have the opportunity to comment in detail," Peskov said, answering CNN's question in a phone call with reporters.

"We saw some kind of summary, which doesn't reveal anything new except admitting the fact there was no collusion."

Court To Hear AAC’s Suit On Rivers Election March 28

The Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has adjourned a case on the governorship election in Rivers State till March 28 for hearing.

Justice Inyang Ekwo fixed the date on Monday following an ex parte motion by the governorship candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC) in Rivers, Mr Biokpomabo Awara.

In the motion, Awara urged the court to stop the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from concluding the collation and announcement of the result of the poll.

BREAKING: Another Building Collapses In Lagos

Another building has collapsed in Lagos on Monday, March 25. 

The building, a two-story edifice collapsed midday on Lagos Island.

According to the Lagos State Management Agency (LASEMA), no one was trapped in the rubbles.

Supplementary Elections: FG closes Adamawa, Benue, Sokoto State land borders
